As a side note, I've been working on a pen and paper/tactical board game design. Still working on it and now in the stage where I could use play testers to work the kinks out. I'm getting some locally now (I find a firearm is an EXCELLENT motivator! ;D Thank you Dennis Leary! :-X ) and should be having a few sessions down the road coming up. So I hope.

hecks yeah, i'm always up for a new game
It's best to watch a furball collapse, analyzing the movements of the enemy. Watch how they maneuver, when they fire, how they break. Visualize your own attacks against those observations, then go in for the kill. Sometimes, though, you don't get that advantage. It's at these times where you go in guns blazing, but keep your head on a swivel.

Well, if any of you folks have ever played the SWRPG, or D&D, Serenity, etc then you would get the RP part of it easily. And if you've played any of the old school Avalon Hill tactical war games, then you'd get that part too. Right now I've got the tactical part pretty much covered, and can create a campaign easily enough. It's just getting the character record sheets prepped, along with the skills and attributes the characters should have for it. When I've got that done I will be able to actually play test the thing and see how it handles, where it needs tweaking, etc.

Not Battletech, Avalon Hill tactical wargames. Hex grids, map boards, complicated firing tables...games like Panzerblitz, Gettysburg, MBT...among others. The games that were made for the hobbyist gamer that focused more on the historical and technical, as well as strategic and tactical, aspects of the game versus playability and such.
I'm just modifying that a bit and downgrading the tactical aspects, as well as the technical and strategic ones. Nothing historical here beyond the era lol.

D&D in the army? Lol, never thought one had enough down time for something like that...but age is right. Used to play a fair share myself in university, even DM'd a few sessions. People that played in mine had alot of fun with it. Pity I dropped it after leaving univ. :'( On a side note, my daughters now an avid D&D fan...guess it runs in the family.
Beware my dark side......oh! Hi Dark.
