The RBL Store.
#53
Posting this for Pyn, who wrote us a GREAT piece! Now you folks know why I doctored your posts...it was leading up to this. I wouldn't steer you wrong now. Smile

Earlier in the battle...

The red light on D'orjahls panel went green for the YT-1300 and the repulsors whined and rolled again to a halt sending the light back to red.

"DAMMIT! IF YA WANT SOMETHIN DONE RIGHT......!"

He never finnished as he ran from the console and down to the flight deck of the hangar, tool satchel beating at his side.

"OPEN UP THAT CAN!!!" He screamed.

The ship made no sound and the boarding ramp never budged. The tech reached into his bag and drew out a hydrospanner.

"OPEN THE #%^*( * DOOR )*&)()(*^!!!! " D'orjahl threw the wrench at the cockpit to puntuate his rage at the pilots with in the ship. As the flight tech vented his frustrations he heard a familliar roar of ION engines comming to life and from the rear most parts of the hangar as a camuflage painted TIE Defender was lifted from it's rack by a tractor beam and hurled out the entrance of the hangar right over his head sending the tech to the deck covering his head with his hands.
Picking himself up from the deck D'orjahl looked across the bay and saw CT at the controles of the tractor beam in the command booth.
Ct waved at the bewildered tech.
"Sorry about that" shouted the clone..."Tank wanted to leave like - yesterday!"
D'orjahl raised his right index finger at CT and prepaired to lay into a barrarge of proffanities, but was cut short by the sound of the boarding plank lowering on the transport behind him.
"I...... I'M GONNA...... I"LL deal with you later...!" he said dropping his finger and running up the gangplank.

As D'orjahl entered the main corridor he ran straight for the enginering station and saw where an access pannle had been removed and an electritians nightmare lay strung out like some sort of beast with it's entrails exposed. A light grey smoke filled the air about the station area and his eyes began to itch.
"Holy howya doins!" what IS this mess!" he stammered.
The tech began to dismiss the ship as not being worth towing off the flight deck when he noticed that the lines wern't as haphazardly strung out as bad as he had previously thought.

"O.K., thats there... this is alright,.... this looks bad but why it still looks like it's workin is beYOND me!" he knelt down and peered into the resseses of the main console... and then he lay on his belly.
"AH HA! he shouted as he reset a breaker and the console sprang back to life.
"RRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAARRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
D'orjahl soon found himself being pulled from the deck of the ship suspended by his ankles a good foot off the ground and being shaken like a rag doll. All he could see from his assalire were the hairy knees of an enraged wookie.
As the terror stricken tech was swung from side to side he could barley make out the hum and whine of the repulsors comming on line. Then suddenly as the attack came, it was over. With D'orjahl being cast to the floor rolling and not stopping till he rolled into the bulkheads. The ship had lifted off and the wookie was also thrown from his feet haveing been just as suprised as the mechanic by the sudden take off.
The wookie was thrown backwards and banged his head against the holochess table knocking the beast unconcious.
D'orjahl, shaking from one end to the other began to pick himself up.
"Thats the scarriest (*^%%^*) thing that's EVER happened to me!"

The YT-1300 shot out of the hangar to join the battle already raging out side the station.

On the Victory Star Destroyer Dirrisive

"Captain Phantiel" spoke out the communications officer from the pit.
"Scouts have reported a station with in a clearing of the asteroid field. Our fighters have already destroyed the radar out posts in this sector and our squadrons are reporting heavy resistance beyond the field."

"Very good luetenant" said the captain almost non chalantly. The captain then turned to his tactical officer commander Heterly.
"See to it that at least one squadron makes a run on the communications array to keep them from making any attempt at distress call. Have the jamming beakons been placed yet?"

The commander blanched a bit then straightedned himself.
"The beakons are nearly in place sir. There was no indication of the size of the area of operations when we first arrived sir, so it may take some ti..." The captain cut him off.

"I don't want excuses commander, I want RESULTS! Get those beakons in place! The last thing we need right now are renforcements for that New republic station!"

The commander stiffened and then broke his silence.

"The New republic has yet to send any transmissions sir. It could be that the asteroid field is scrabling any signal for help. Though they are protected by the asteroid field they are also traped in it as effectivly. They cannot hyper out, they cannot send a signal with out an outside transmitter wich they must not have lest we would have intercepted such a signal and we have not. When our re-enforcements arrive our jamming beakons will all be in place and we will be able to wear them down at leasure. Our blockade will stop any of thier craft from making an escape and futher....." This time it is the communications officer who interupted the commander.

"Captain Phantiel, our squadrons have reached the station and have begun the straffing attacks. Resistance is high and well motivated. The station has now seemed to.. dissapear. Sorry if some of these reports seem a bit vauge sir. We seem to have lost quite a few fighters and scout ships."

Captain Phantiel only seemed mildly anoyed by this time."It's a cloaking devise no doubt, they will soon relize thier folly when we begin a turbolaser barrage into the place they pretend not to be, and since they will be cloaked they will have little effect on our ship as they will not be able to see what they are shooting at."

The luetenant continued "Also reports of......" the communications officer went white.
Phantiel began to feel anger swell with in himself.
"OUT WITH IT! WHAT ARE THE REPORTS!" he shouted into the crew pit.

"Reports are comming in that there is a capitol warship sir.... super star destroyer class"

The captain felt his knees buckle at this new information and now understood the luetenants expression.

"Were going to have to pull a full retreat if this report is accuret" he thought to himself.

The tactical commander broke the momentary silence that now loomed over the bridge.
"Sir, it dosn't make sense... no other capitol warships are reported at this location. Where are it's suport vessles? Surely they can't have THAT much man power hidden in an asteroid field and for what purpose? Outside of us just having stumbled upon..........." Commander Heterly now had a glimmering notion.
"A hiding place for a mothballed flagship wich would have nothing more than a skelleton crew! OF COURSE!!!!"

Captian Phantiel caught onto the same train of thought immediatly.

With a triuphant __expression the captain turned to his tactiacl officer.
"Commence *Operation Juxtapose*."

Commander Heterly ckicked his heels together in salute and replide.
"AT ONCE SIR!"

******************************************************************************************************

No New Republic ship was close enough to the VSD let alone its hanger bay to see the small omnicron class transport deploy from beneath the warship... no one would have known that the craft had now gone invisable to thier scopes from the effects of a decoy beam. All fighters had been either destroyed or driven back into the temporary safety of the asteroid field. The tiny ship made it's treturous journy towards the center of the field.
