1st Offical GASFIGHTER Racing Results!
#1
RBLSports brings you this live update on the GASFIGHTER Racing track.

First, a recap of the rules.

Events are as follows:

Ringer 1, Salvage Yard Hot Fly Through. There might be more later on, but these are the base ones.

The Ringer is the Speed Demon, while the HFT is the money maker.

More may follow in time.

Rules:

Don't shoot your fellow competitor. Other than that...that's pretty much it. You shoot'em, expect to get shot back. So just don't do it.

Fastest time wins, all competitors are in same ship unless all agree on different ones, and the best conn hosts.

Any deaths are counted as a disqualifying factor automatically, no matter where you were on the track.

A screenshot would be nice too. ;D

Other than that...START YOUR ENGINES AND HAVE FUN!!!

Two pilots flew tonight in both the Ringer and the HFT. Ringer wasn't held as official as it was the test run for the connection.

There were several Hot Fly Through runs, with three of them being counted as offical as the two pilots squared off and tested the track.

RBL_M1A2Tanker flew well against IPG_Pynaegan two out of three times, losing only in the Missileboat match.

His TIE Defender flew well though against Pyns Missileboat, scoring a 3:14 to his 3:46.

In the TIE Defender vs TIE Defender, the action was fast and furious as they fought neck and neck most of the course, but Tank pulled ahead to win 2:49 to Pyns 3:13.

The Missileboat match won't be reported because Tank lost and this reporter doesn't want to be killed for mention...ing...ack...help...can't...breath....**thud**

Tanker (tangk'er)n. 1. A dusty, crusty, grease-covered, dirty, sweaty, bright eyed, fuzzy faced, haircut-needing, beer-drinking, underrated, over-worked, underpaid, oversexed, little s%#* who can take a Tank and do more battlefield damage in ten minutes than a grunt squad can do all day.

Excitement was running pretty high for this reporting pilot at the "Galactic Speedway" last night. It is true that the TD did indeed beat out the challenging MB though margins were closer than comfortable for the deffender pilot. Wink

Speed deamon course will be fine for "conn testing" and Money maker is excelent for the low time racing. But before it's all over I'm looking forward to testing our metals in the "WIDOWMAKER" a.k.a. "there and back again" for survivability.

Here at Galactic speedways our concern is "safety" LOL (yeah right)
Hence the primary reason 0% deaths will be tollerated at the end of a race. This will sharpen your flying skills and make you the more cunning pilot. (besides, it's tough to drink milk when your atoms are scattered accross the sky or worse yet all over the finnish line!)

As far as MB vs. MB here are the results.

Pyn 3:40 0 deaths

Tank 4:15 1 death

No details have been recorded as to why this race went so badly for Tank, but just before his untimely demise I remember Tank's apprehension about flying the dreadded missileboat and questioning his own "cat like reflexes" in the TD in regards to flying the "slower and less manuverable missileboat".

It's good to see such a "dark side" in Tank.... strangling his own reprter just before the results in the MB race could be made public. (I may YET be able to convert the wayward reb into joining the side of the right!)

Well, thats about all I have from Galactic Speedways and the GASfighter competitions.

Next week I'll be posting the results of a "bare bones" TIE Fighter single player time race in the "Speed Deamon" course. (and you thought that the "money Maker" was tough!)

So when are these races taking place? Certainly more pilots are welcome??

Currently, i'm most avaialbe after 11:00 pm est. other than that i can sometimes be found at the zone before 12:00 noon :est. as i work evenings. and off on turs-friday. as far as other pilots go, it's looking like IPG_Zamite is interested in the races. we spared off this morning in re-familliarizing hime with the courses. add him to your buddy list and contact him or pop by the IPG site and leave us a challenge. I saw them lastnight Ace. Was on trying to get caught up after all the crud with my good computer. was around midnight EST.

Anyhow, i'll be joining in on this ASAP
It's best to watch a furball collapse, analyzing the movements of the enemy. Watch how they maneuver, when they fire, how they break. Visualize your own attacks against those observations, then go in for the kill. Sometimes, though, you don't get that advantage. It's at these times where you go in guns blazing, but keep your head on a swivel.

That was the only thing I couldn't think of, was when the races would take place. I'm online a lot, but I can only fly on like three days out of a week at best (Saturday evening, Sunday anytime, and Weds evening).

I was thinking that it go on a challenge basis. Find someone who has an interest in it and challenge'em. Set up a date and time that works best.

Basically, it's to be as flexible as possible for all participants. No set days or times other than what you and your competitiors arrainge, hence why the SS is needed, just as proof you did it. Wink

Pyn and I are working on other details, but if you have suggestions feel free to toss them out.

This late report just in!

Tis another dissapointing day for IPG as RBL once again takes the blue ribbon at the "Galactic Speedway GASFighter racing compititions"

Due to incmpletenes of screen shots, only two races are reportable.

For the first event RBL_Goku faced off with IPG_Pynaegan in the "Money Maker" piloting missileboats. Pyn started with a jackrabbit take off that won him a nose lead but a slight misscalculation found him running into the bouncing debris that sent him spiraling down the chute loosing all but total control by the time the ships left the junk chute both ships were neck and neck with Goku pulling ahead to take the lead.
*Pyn* "I took a lot of junk in the face at the begining and missed my turn at the crusher"

IPG must not have dallied too long in the crusher though, for even as Goku redirected his power to the engines and took the lead Pynaegan regained control of his craft and was able to stay not much less than a ships length behind Goku through the first set of rings.

The smelting room posed little threat as both ships entered the lava tunnles and began leap frogging for a lead through the twists and turns of the course.

*Pyn*"I could tell I was going to have trouble by races end for now my shields were down to 75% and Goku still had his up to 112%, my bouncing off the walls in the tunnle sure din't help matters."

In the tunnles Goku finaly achived a good lead before having entered the hammer room, and a good thing that he had for Goku apparently lost his berrings giving IPG a cance to blast past him to the exits.

Goku was able to track Pyn's departure from the hammer room, and quickly followed suit and once again leaped into a lead redirecting everything to engines having the "shield advantage".

Goku entered the finnish with Pynaegan trailing in 8 seconds behind.

RBL_Goku 3:42 0 deaths MB

IPG_Pynaegan 3:50 0 deaths MB

For the second event our pilots decided to take on the "Widowmaker"

The first half of the race went very much like the first race through the Money Maker until Goku entered the hammer room where he got nailed by one of the swinging hammers dropping his shields down to 80%. Pyn once againtook the lead here but missed a ring on the way to the half-way point and was stopped right next to a laser ring making life misserable for IPG. As IPG was in lead at the time, Pyn was taking the brunt of the laser rings as Goku was tailing just behind Pyn and not taking any dammage. When Pyn was stopped for "missed ring penalty" Goku blasted passed him into the half-way container and began his trip back through the salvage yard. Pyn had to boost laser power to generate shields and lost valuble time in doing so.

Pyn succesfuly salvaged his ship and continued persuit of the course, however upon the return trip and re-entering the smelting room, Pyn heard the tell tale buzzer of "race time comprimize" and Goku had already won the race. Pyn now had only 2 minuts to complete the course and place in the Widowmaker.

Try as he might, Pyn retraced the rings well, but bounced a bit in the crusher. Time ran out for the IPG pilot in the junk chute just a few seconds from finnishing closing IPG's race with a crushing defeat with in sight of the finnish.

RBL_Goku 8:14 0 deaths MB

IPG_Pynaegan INCOMPLETE 0 deaths MB

Well, there you have it folks! And thats the way it is in the "rough and tumble" world of GASfighter racing here at Galactic Speedways. It's always a succesful race when no-one dies on the course cause you can always comeback and hand "second" place to your beloved rival on the track!

Excelent flying Goku.
MTFBWY!
