XvT and XWA Wiki site:
#1
*S* Space Combat pilots. At least some of you are aware of the DJO Pilots' ongoing development of a Help Guide/Info Site for XvT, BoP, and XWA. This Wiki site is editable by anyone, so your contributions are welcome. We're trying to keep it professional and neutral, so if your spelling or punctuation is not up to par, don't be offended if someone edits your entry. Your site(this one here) was the default "link shoot" for setting up/installing XvT/XWA for quite some time. I've personally "shot them a link" to the RBL "Getting it to work" guide for 2 years. This new wiki site has much more than set-up though. Last week, we installed a "Secrets of XvT" section which has detailed instructions for making hidden missions left in the game by programmers playable. Next on the list is the daunting task of making a strategy guide for every mission in XvT/BoP. We will be using screen shots and player reported techniques to accomplish this. We could use your help. If you haven't already taken a peek, shoot over to the site and have a look around.

Thanks for the mention. Being the developer here and now over at BSC I'm keeping pretty busy ;D Feel free to copy whatever info you feel is worthy from the RBL site if yea haven't already Tongue

Azis and I worked through that Getting it to work guide way back when we dusted off the cd's and tried to run them on a modern system. We thought it best to document our trials so our senile minds could reference it in the future and be helpful to anyone else experiencing the same LOL

I'll put a link to the wiki up in the xvt help section when I get a chance.

Speaking of senile minds Holmes, MINE could use all the help it can get getting my router to let me connect for xwa and xvt.  It's been 5 months since I last was able to connect online for a match.  I've had a few people try to assist me, but so far no luck.  Fraid written instructions are only as good as the user READING them and tech ISN'T a specialty of mine, lol.
Beware my dark side......oh! Hi Dark.

Snoopy, you may have to recruit someone locally to help you out then. Trying to mess with router settings remotely without secondary access around the router generally doesn't work. Most home routers require a reboot on any change to the config and this would drop the remote session, if something happened and the router did not come back up you'd be out of luck.

From what I can recall you "should" be able to at least join games if you have reverse port mappings setup on the router to your PC and only yours for the game (meaning only that PC will work).

The other option (which also allows you to host games) is ... putting your PC IP in a DMZ on your router... this is generally the quicker and painless option. Again the DMZ would only allow a single PC to play the game.

The last option is usually foolproof, bypass your router altogether and plug your PC's ethernet port directly into your cable/dsl/whatever you got. If your not using a switch, then this means your cutting the rest of the house off from the internet. This is what I do to host games heh.

I spruced up the Rebel Squadron mention at the wiki site: I copied your Logo and a condensed version of your welcome statement onto there. I'll try and have the site administrator move your squadron up higher on the list. Don't know why it was put near the bottom, as your club is more active than the others mentioned.
