I never watch the news as most of it is fake sensationilism. Real life experience here, I make 5 times what I did 10 years ago, yet stuff costs 10 times more than they did back then. So even though I'm now making 6 figures often times it still feels like i am back welding at the factory for peanuts. $50 to fill up my wrangler's 16 gallon tank bites the wallet pretty good. Most "middle class" houses around here are 350K+, outside of my budget. 100K might get you a crackerbox in the ghetto. Cheapest one room apartments around here are 500/month, and thats if you like having crack neighbors.
The dollar is tanking, the Euro is very strong. I went to egypt 2 months ago and the dollar to egypt pound ratio was 5:1... 2 years ago when I went it was 7:1... that really hits home when your paying for stuff in pounds and it's costing you more dollars than the previous trip. BTW euro to egy ratio is almost 10:1 if that tells you anything about where the dollar now stands. Inflation sucks man.
I haven't gotten a raise in 2 years either, yet that 20% inflation keeps on trucking.
Don't want to get into a big political debate, but just my 2 cents for what it's worth, course week from now that will only be 1 cent.
