Keep in mind, there are 2 species of turkey - 'Wild' and 'Domestic'(to say nothing of subspecies) and the difference between the 2 in the intelliigence dept. is like the difference between night and day. A true wild turkey has a real reputation for cunning and is what your Benjamin Franklyn had in mind when he suggested it as a better symbol for your nation than the bald eagle.(No, I'm NOT gonna use the domestic version and make a political comment...lol)
On a side note, having worked in the poultry business for 5 years, I've seen what even domesticated turkey's are capable of....trust me, you DON'T want to get hit in a tender area(to be polite) by the wing of 1 while handling them live. ??? :o :'( >
