Hey Holmes...

We've known for awhile that the site has a copywright on it. I was wondering how you went about doing it. All I've seen so far is that you send 30 bucks and a copy of the work to be copywritten to the Copyright Office.

That's basically all you have to do Tank. Spook has all the stuff for DG copywrited and I think even trademarked. All he did was fill out forms and send a check to the right government office. I don't remember which one.

Well how do you send a copy of a website? You have to print it out or something?

Copyrights and trademarks dont have to be registered to still be a copyright or a trademark. Registering adds that extra security so to speak and elminates any doubt of duplicates. Any work you create is your copyright... with RBL everything on this site that is original work is copyright, it's not registered, but still copyright to whomever did it (Tank, Zara, myself, whoever, etc.). Which basically means people cant use our stuff (ie graphics, etc.) without asking permission to do so... I put the notice on RBL to protect our stuff... granted most who created alot of the stuff on here probably dont care one way or the other.. but's it's just a blanket thing.
Hope that makes sense.

Also on trademarks... You can legally have a trademark without registering by displaying the "™" symbol next to your mark... of course as long as it isn't someone elses trademark heheh... now to legally display the "registered" trademark symbol "®" you must register it with a govt entity before you can display that symbol.
With copyrights... it's a bit more lax on the registration and symbol display, since common law is that anything "original" you create is legally your copyright. You cannot of course take two pictures that are copyright by someone else and use clippings of it in your own pic and call it your own... thats illegal, unless you got permission to do so from the owner... anyway enough of my rambling ... probably more than what you asked for heheh
