Remembering the past - 91 yrs ago today
#1
91 years ago, not more than a stone's throw from where I live today, 2 ships, the Imo and the Mont-Blanc, collided in Halifax harbour, with the Mont-Blanc catching fire.  25 mintes later, the ship, a fully loaded french munitions cargo ship, exploded, resulting in the largest man-made explosion in history, prior to the atomic bomb. The cities of Halifax and Dartmouth were flattened and a severe snowstorm that evening only added to the misery.  Thousands perished.

Today, Halifax is a vibrant, growing city of over 400, 000 people. Aside from the Memorial Bell Tower(a structure looking much like the remains of a church wall) little remains to indicate the extent of the devestation. As a way of showing thanks and rememberance for their help immediately after the explosion, Nova Scotia sends the city of Boston, Mass. a large Christmas tree each year.
Beware my dark side......oh! Hi Dark.
