Better late than never...

RBL_Simon reporting in.

So now that my 3 children are in the age where they start to play the computer games that I loved, my thoughts also turned back to gaming.

I was quite surprised to discover that the SWG source had been leaked and there was a server running for years including JTL.
So I did not think about it long and joined SWG Legends the way I used to play ˜15 years ago. Main char Officer, and two others for Droid Engineer and Shipwright. I was a bit disappointed that my old names had been taken already, but that did not keep me thinking long.
So on to the long grind to shape up. The next stop was SWGCraft, which surprisingly also still existed, to check what is spawning and if the data is reliable. Back in the days I was a hardcore contributer and so I checked the current leaderboard to see how many people are active. And there on the board, ranking second a guy called Solarisjedi, now that sounded familiar. So I headed here to confirm my thought, and indeed I was right.

Great to see RBL is still alive and kicking! Canˋt wait to see you ingame Holmes. Are there any other squad mates in SWG Legends?

BR
Simon

PS: Toon names are Si'm (Officer) and Ii'k and Uu'k (Traders)

Had no idea Galaxies was still active. Never got into that one personally. I tried getting into swtor but after the initial honey moon phase it gets pretty bland. These days I'm flying and training noobs in Star Wars Squadrons. Playing on xbox but with cross play any platform can sinc up. And there is a pretty recent mod that boosted XWA to HD graphics and lighting......

Ace out

I never tried out SWTOR, but SWG has an extension called Jump to Lightspeed (JTL) which is in fact an X-Wing Series space flight simulation.
SWG legends is free to play ( you need to have a copy of the original SWG game though) and all extensions including JTL are included.
When checking out current games I also came across Squadrons, but my PC specs are not up for the challenge as I only have integrated graphics. And as everybody is mining crypto currencies recently there is no way to get a dedicated graphics card with a reasonable price tag. So I decided to stick with JTL.
Some of the muscle memory is still there, at least decelerating and 3D turning just happened naturally Big Grin But to make best use of it I need to get my old button setup as well. I was browsing the web in search for some recommended X-Wing mappings when I stumbled across a pretty active XWA forum, which was quite a surprise. Your mentioning of the recent mod explains it I guess. I think I will give XWA a try and then start a flight school for my kids, as an MMORPG is not the best place to start out for preteens.

I have enjoyed SWTOR, though I kinda pass on their flight sim, don't really like the controls. And I really do like Squadrons control setup. Simple, yet complex and has all the right elements to me.

Also, good seeing ya again! Big Grin
