Dude, Jedi Starfighters may have been good back in the Clone wars, just like the P-38J Lightning was good back in WWII, but a new XJ-X-Wing would be much better.

Problem is mass of the parts and chassis space constraints. There's only so much you can do if the parts you have on hand aren't of a low enough mass and space to fit in the first place.
In other words, you can't fit parts that give you XJ-X-Wing power into a frame smaller than an A-Wing.
